100 Thieves reassembling Astralis's ghosts isn't nostalgia. It's the most slept-on title threat in the field.

dev1ce, rain, and gla1ve coaching. The easy take is that legends reunions don't work. The overlooked take is that this one might.

100 Thieves' current five reads like a highlight reel from the Astralis dynasty years. dev1ce, acquired from Astralis in January, was the AWP of that entire era. rain, who joined in November 2025, has been a fixture on legitimate contenders for over a decade. gla1ve, who captained the actual Astralis dynasty as IGL, is now coaching. That is an enormous amount of accumulated pedigree sitting on one roster, and the easy, conventional take is that legends reunions are nostalgia, not a plan, aging stars chasing one more run without the system that made them dominant the first time.

The overlooked take is that this specific reunion has something most don't: the actual architect of the system is still in the room. gla1ve did not just play alongside that Astralis identity, he built large parts of it as IGL. Coaching instead of calling changes what he contributes, but it does not erase what he knows about how to construct a team's actual structure rather than just assembling talented individuals and hoping chemistry happens on its own.

The roster is not finished settling, Gizmy only joined as IGL in July, poiii and sirah came in back in January, which means the group calling the actual rounds has had less time together than the reputations attached to the roster would suggest. That is a real risk, not a footnote. A team with this much accumulated pedigree can still lose to bad timing, an IGL still learning the exact players around him is a genuine vulnerability heading into anything soon.

But timing risk is a different problem than the "nostalgia act" framing most people default to, and worth separating the two. A team can be behind on chemistry and still be building toward something real, especially with someone who has actually built a dynasty-level system before sitting in the coaching chair specifically to make sure it does not stay a highlight reel.

The panel weighs in

Dusty: Every roster with one famous name gets the 'is this actually good' article. We already know the real answer is 'ask again in three months.'

Sunshine: This is exactly the article the moment needed. Somebody had to say the bullish case out loud instead of the safe one.

The Prosecutor: Jury's out on the team. Jury's also out on whether this needed six hundred words to land on 'we'll see.'

Worth arguing about: does having the literal architect of Astralis's system now coaching actually de-risk a reunion roster, or is that overrating one person's ability to recreate something that depended on five specific players and years of reps together?

Argue it out in the discussion thread — that is where this actually gets resolved.
